A Blog Award Nomination

I was recently nominated for a Liebster award by Alan of Nostalgic Lifestyles.  Thank you Alan!

I have previously, about seven months ago, been nominated for this blogging award, by Denise of Retro Gran and Deborah of Hell Cat Vintage, but I was never sure if I should put up a logo or what, so I shall do it again  - it's interesting!  

What is a Liebster Award?

It's a token of recognition that bloggers award to fellow bloggers who they think deserve more recognition. The terminology "Liebster" roughly translates to "Dearest" from German, and the guidelines of this award are as follows:

1. You must answer the 11 questions set by the blogger who nominated you.
2. You yourself then pick 11 blogs who in turn have under 200 followers.
3. You must then think of 11 questions for the blogs you have picked and also tell them.
4. You must link back to the blog that nominated you.
5. Write 11 facts about yourself (this one is new to me, but I will).

(It's a little bit like a 'chain letter', but nicer).

So here are the answers to my questions from Alan:

1. If you could meet someone from history, who would it be?

Agatha Christie.

2. If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take one possession, what would you take?

A set of Encyclopaedia Britannica.

3. What is your favourite film?

Hard one.  I think 'Out of Africa' - love the scenery, the music, the actors and of course it's set in the past.

4. If you could be any animal, which would you be?

A Zebra, for their design style.

5. What astrological star sign are you?

Scorpio.

6. Where in the world, would you most like to visit?

Paris.  I went as a seven year old, and really didn't appreciate it.  I'd have to bring my husband (but probably not the kids). And I'd love this vintage tour.

7. Who is your best friend?

My husband. We have been best friends since we met in 1986.

8. How often do you try to blog?

Daily - I tend to spend about an hour each night reading blogs on my list and doing my own post, and I try and fit in a bit during the day during the slack times at work or when I grab a coffee.  I was spending upto 8 hours a day on each post when I was not working!

9. What is your biggest indulgence?

Buying vintage magazines.

10. If you lost your mobile phone, how would you react?

It's insured, so I would be a little inconvenienced as I don't have a home phone, and I use it as a radio and clock.  My kids would be devastated as they play games on it!

11. What season do you love the most?  

Autumn, although we don't really have it here in Queensland - you know it's autumn when you don't need to turn on the air-con!
 I love the wet season, which is now, except for cyclones.  Watching old movies when it's raining and windy outside is wonderful - until  the power goes off!

11 Facts about me.

1. I was born in 1969, and grew up in the 70s and 80s, perhaps why I love pre 70s now.
2. I have lived in England, Sweden and Australia.
3. I got married at 21, and am still married to the same man.
4. I have 5 children ranging from 8 to 20.
5. I have two dogs (a staffy and a border collie), a cat and three hens, and I just sold my horse.
6. My husband's (then boyfriend) father marked my English exam in year 12. And I passed!
7. I have breastfed for a total of 9 years. Including twins for 2 years.
8. I live at least 1000km from my siblings and parents. I miss them.
9. I love reading - I read anywhere from a book a day to a book a week.
10. I am a qualified interior decorator and nail technologist, have studied architecture, hotel management, teaching and law, and now work as a legal secretary, with my husband.
11. I have never had a speeding ticket.
