Vintage Design - Mid-Century House Plan - 1958

Now here is a plan I quite like. the living areas are at the back, to make the most use of the yard, and the car port, long enough to have two cars undercover, leads directly into the kitchen. And there's a fire-place!
Plan

I have been dreaming of a house with a fire-place - we don't need them here in North Queensland. Maybe it's time for a move?  I found this house for sale while looking online - it's in the Victorian town of Benalla, where my folks live.  It has a great chimney -

which unfortunately has an electric fireplace installed, but it does have another fireplace -

with wonderful mid-century lights and brick wall.  The whole house is fairly original, and at only $300,000 for a four bedroom house, it's very tempting.  See the listing here.

  1. Hi, Deb! I just now realized that you live closer to the Equator than I do. No wonder you don't need a fireplace. Here in Florida we don't have one either although some winter nights we wish we had.

The floor plan of this 1958 house is similar to the one in which I grew up. We had a car port that led directly into the kitchen and dining room with the living room beyond as pictured here and the bedrooms to the rear of the house.

Thanks for the memories, Deb, and enjoy the rest of your Queensland Thursday!

    1. You are welcome for the memories! I heard that it was frosty down your way and the palms trees were icing up - hope you're not too cold! xx
