Mid-Century Homes - A Time Capsule in Queensland

This home is in Mooloolaba, Queensland was built in 1960, most likely by the owner, who lived in it until recently.  Sadly, it's now for sale.

Everything is original, including, by the looks of it, including the feltex carpet, wallpaper, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, and wall paper.

This is why I love vintage ads - they are great for dating interiors as well as fashion.

The house has an internal breezeway, which is a brilliant idea for the Queensland climate, and can catch all the cooling sea breezes.  Coupled with the high ceilings, it looks as though this home does not need any air-conditioning.

What a wonderful home, and a great floor-plan.  It's a shame more modern designers don't design to catch the breeze - instead, they produce little cement boxes that need air-con in each room.

If you want to see more of the house, you can take a virtual tour here, or contact the agent here.
