Happy St Patrick's Day from Brisbane

I've just got back from a weekend in Queensland's capital city, Brisbane. Just enough time to visit the art gallery, do a bit of shopping and catch up with family.   And watch the St Patrick's Day parade!

My favourite float - 'The Young Irish Punter from Cork in appreciation of Guinness'.

I love the thirties truck and the hats. This one is great too. A home away from home.

There were lots of Irish bands, Irish dancers, and Irish bubble blowers....

The giant puppet boy was quite amazing,

You can see by the palm trees that Brisbane is quite tropical , even though it's about 1000km south of where I am in Mackay.  And they have giant butterflies, just like we do.

And at the end of the day even the Ferris Wheel on south bank went green.

The casino was red though, so I stayed away.

It looks pink I know. But the river looks brown.

But it is a beautiful city with a river curving through it's centre and lots of gardens. Even the walkways are covered in flowers.

And there are even gardens in the art gallery.

I had a great time.  Visit if you can.
